Ballachulish Heritage

Ballachulish is a small village with a big history dating back over 300 years. Until 1955 Ballachulish was a quarrying village, with a railway line and busy harbour serving the quarries.

The other famous aspect of Ballachulish is the Bridge which opened in 1975, replacing a centuries old ferry service across the narrows, but there is much more to our community to discover. Take a look at some of it in the Ballachulish Timeline, or follow the links for other fascinating insights into the local history.
